Daily Practice (Abhyasa)

abhyāsena tu kaunteya vairāgyeṇa ca gṛhyate — Gita 6.35 The mind is trained by steady practice and by letting go.

This folder is the engine of the whole sankalpa. Every other folder depends on these few minutes each day.

Files

File Use it
morning-template.md Every morning (10–12 min)
evening-template.md Every night before sleep (3 min)
weekly-review-template.md Every Sunday (20–30 min)
verses.md A verse to start each morning
log/ Where my daily entries live

How to use it

  1. Each morning, copy morning-template.md into log/ and name it with the date, like log/2026-11-06.md.
  2. In the evening, add the evening note to the same file (the evening template is short, paste it at the bottom).
  3. On Sunday, copy weekly-review-template.md into log/ as log/2026-W45-review.md (the week number).

If writing in the repo is slow on some days, write in a notebook and copy it in on Sunday. The habit matters more than the tool.

The morning practice, step by step

  1. Verse (1 min). Read one verse from verses.md. Read it slowly, twice.
  2. Read the story (3 min). Read my sankalpa from the main README out loud. Feel each line as if it is already true. Picture one scene clearly (for example, my parents' faces when they see the FD papers).
  3. Write 3 goals from memory (2 min). Without looking, write the three goals that feel most alive today. Writing from memory trains the brain to keep them close.
  4. If-then plan (2 min). Pick the hardest moment of today and plan it: "If X happens, then I will do Y."
  5. One action (1 min to choose). Choose one concrete action that moves one goal forward today. Do it before the day ends.

The 2-minute version (for hard days)

Read the story once. Write one action. Do it. That's it. Never miss twice.
